Bobby “Blue” Bland is a true legend. Dubbed “The Lion of the Blues”, he found the line where Blues and Soul music meet, and his 23 Top Ten Hits on the R&B Charts span 6o years. They’ve also been covered by the greats like Eric Clapton with “Farther On Up the Road” and the Grateful Dead anthem “Turn on Your Love Light”. The Allman Brothers Band covered Bland’s version of “Stormy Monday” on Live at the Fillmore East and Van Morrison recorded ”Aint Nothing You Can Do”. In 1973, Bobby charted yet again with “Aint No Love in the Heart of the City”, later covered by Whitesnake, the Allman Brothers Band, Kanye West and Jay Z. |
